The main feature of a speaker cable that you have to look out for is the resistor. After all, every now and then there should be power spikes through the cable. The resistance of the cable should be as low as possible to have no losses. And also for the speaker cable, it does not add or omit things, there you have your installation for.
The thickness of the cable depends mainly on the length you need. For simple audio systems in the living room is 1.5 mm2 to a length up to 3 meters suitable. A more universal diameter is 2.5 mm2 which is just fine in most home situations. For large systems and longer distances 4.0 mm2 is more suitable.
Melodika loudspeaker cable is made according to the Bass Core Technology: The cable consists of a solid vein (0.85 mm) for the low frequencies (a lot of energy) and around it flexible veins (110x 0.15 mm) for the middle and high frequencies. This will achieve a better dynamic.
SPEAKER CABLE BI-AMP
For use in larger systems with two amplifiers per loudspeaker (bi-amping), Melodika has a special cable. The composition is as follows:
- Bass: 2x 4mm2 (1x 1, 10mm and 170x 0.15 mm) (bass Core Technology)
- Mid/High: 2x 1, 5mm2 (78x 0, 15mm)
This cable is also to be used as bi-wire If your amplifier speaker has output A + B.
